Snowboard Kids 2, released in Japan as Chou Snobow Kids (Super Snowboard Kids) is a snowboarding video game for the Nintendo 64 developed by Racdym and published by Atlus. This was the last title for the series until the release of SBK: Snowboard Kids six years later.
Plot[]
The game appears to ignore the setup of Snowboard Kids Plus, instead serving as a follow-up to the plot of the original Snowboard Kids.
The mysterious youth Damien has invaded Snow Town, determined to make the lives of the Snowboard Kids miserable through trickery and sabotage. Between rampaging snowmen, the crazy experiments of new member Wendy Lane and other wacky adventures, the Snowboard Kids better be on their guard!
Changes from Snowboard Kids[]
- The game's save system uses an internal battery with three save slots rather than a Controller Pack.
- Shinobin, Nicole Couch, Pamela Rasteri, Ruby Green, and Kaede are absent as playable snowboarders. In their place, Wendy Lane, Damien, and Coach debut as new boarders while Mr. Dog, previously an NPC, can be unlocked as a playable character.
- The original five racers and Mr. Dog received design overhauls to fit with the new art style.
- Rocket, Super Rat, Super Ghost, and Wing are added as new items while Whirlwind is added as a new Shot. Furthermore, Bombs can now be launched backwards.
- The game is more slow-paced, with boarders traveling more slowly but smoothly compared to the original game, similar to the overall speed of Plus
- The new features of Snowboard Kids Plus are not featured, apart from alternate costumes serving as a spiritual successor to the Wear Booth.
- Instead of being free of charge, it now costs Gold to change the player's board paint style.
Trivia[]
- Voice actress Lani Minella, the only English voice actor credited for the original game, only voices Slash, Damien and Wendy in the localization of Snowboard Kids 2.
Reception[]
Snowboard Kids 2 was well received by gamers and critics alike, who stated the game was fun if stiff gameplay-wise. It is largely considered the best game in the series, an opinion further bolstered by its less-than-stellar reboot on the Nintendo DS.
